Won’t You Be My Neighbor – St. Louis, Missouri

By RetroRuth

This week we have another home with metal kitchen cabinets!

This home is located at 40 Conwood Lane, in Saint Louis, Missouri. It has five bedrooms and three bathrooms and is about 3100 square feet. It was built in 1954 and the asking price is $499,999. It is listed by RE/MAX and you can see the listing on Zillow here. From the listing:

The current owner has enjoyed this lovingly cared for, family home for 45 years. It is now time for a new owner to make this home their own. Providing abundant living space, and light filed rooms, this 5 bedroom and 3 full bath home has so much to offer. Expansive living and dining rooms are perfect for entertaining. The handsome see through fire place warms the family room which is paneled in Cyprus with a large picture window giving you views of the pool and decking. The original kitchen, with ample counter and cabinet space provides a breakfast area and wet bar. Three of the bedrooms share the north side of the home with 2 full baths while the south 2 bedrooms could be the master or a nanny or in-law suite. One full bath there. The walk out basement, if finished, would offer over 2000 sq ft of additional living space. Plenty of storage and closet space too. The home sits on a one acre secluded lot with a circular driveway and carport in the rear. Easy access to highways and shopping.

So, what do you think? I think this house has a LOT of potential. Many of the original finishes are still there and look to be in great condition. And the traditional furniture kind of throws you off as well. But I think if you cleared that out, changed out that horrible kitchen floor and repainted the bedrooms in some fun colors this place would have a much more mid-mod vibe.

This is another home that apparently has been loved by its owners. It’s amazing what great condition it appears to be in. I’d move right in!

You could be my (somewhat) neighbor since I’m in the ‘Lou, too! Actually, my next-door neighbors are moving coming up in a month or so – from a totally adorable 1950’s ranch with a pool. So I can really have someone be my neighbor – my next-door neighbor! I’ll let Retro Ruth know when it comes on the market.

I too could move right in if all the furniture was removed first. It has great bones.
