Won’t You Be My Neighbor – San Francisco, California

By RetroRuth

This week we have an Eichler home that recently went off the market, but I thought I would feature this home anyway because the probability of it being gutted in the near future is very high.

This home is located at 109 Amber Drive in San Francisco, California. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is approximately 1400 square feet. It was built in 1965, and it recently went off the market. You can see the listing on Zillow here. From the listing:

109 Amber is a mostly original Eichler Home that is offered for the first time in almost 50 years and is ready to be updated. The living areas consist of an expansive living room and dining area, framed with wood and beamed ceilings and walls of glass that create a seamless transition of interior and exterior. A massive concrete block fireplace provides a dramatic statement to this room while a large deck provides expansion from the living and dining areas. A functional kitchen, three bedrooms and two baths, a serene and private rear yard, a two-car side by side garage, and abundant storage complete Joseph Eichler’s vision of a design for living. Move in now or transform this Eichler into your own version of a true mid-century masterpiece.

So, what do you think? It’s a cool house inside, but I almost feel like the exterior is cooler than the interior. Which makes sense, because there is a lot of outdoor living going on in California.

Yeah, the interior could use some TLC and re-retro’ing. Awesome area behind the house. Is $1.5M cheap for SF?
