Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Muskegon, Michigan

By RetroRuth

This week we have a great house that I am really digging.

This home is located at 1701 Eloise Drive, Muskegon, Michigan. It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms and is approximately 4,500 square feet. It was built in 1962 and the asking price is $229,900. This home is listed by Five Star Real Estate, and you can see the listing here. From the listing:

Sprawling mid-century modern ranch in Fruitport schools. Open concept great room boasts original beams and fireplace. Step down living room leads you to a 3 seasons room overlooking the lush woods and creek. Eat-in kitchen and separate formal dining area for entertaining. Main floor master suite with a private bathroom. Two more bedrooms and another full bath complete the main level. The finished walkout lower level hosts a family room with a second fireplace, a 4th bedroom, laundry area, and lots of storage. Enjoy the wooded back yard with 3.5 acres and Filinow creek running through it. Underground sprinkling and extra barn add to the amenities of this one of a kind home.

This one would be a really fun one to restore. Even if you just got this house the proper furniture it would make a huge difference. And I am really in love with that Great Room, especially the indoor planter and that really interesting railing on the stairs. Some of the light fixtures need to go, but there are a lot of the original light fixtures left to work with. What do you think?

Love the slate floor and planter in the entryway. The raised panel cabinetry feels like a miss, but definitely good bones in this one.

This is the kind of home I once aspired to. I love the design and all the space but now it’s too big for just two of us. I still love the design, though, and that family room furniture is perfection.

What a bargain! I hope somebody buys the home who will respect its original design and love it as much as the current owners apparently did.

What a cool house at a great price! Seems the kitchen was updated at some point. I wonder if the wood wall cabinet in the laundry room was from the original kitchen?

You had me at the entryway…the door, slate floor, lots of light, the planter, the closet…an entryway I’ve dreamed of 🙂
