Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Midland, Michigan

By RetroRuth

Okay, I’m not going to lie. I miss my time capsule house. And so I have kind of been stalking the real estate listings in Midland and drooling over the homes coming up for sale. There are some aspects of this home that I am really loving!

This home is located at 1309 North Pkwy in Midland, Michigan. It has three bedrooms and four bathrooms and is approximately 3200 square feet. It was built in 1958 and the asking price is $359,900. This home is listed by Ayre Rhinehart, and you can see the listing here. From the listing:

A classic Mid Century Modern designed home on nearly a one acre lot in the Midland Country Club neighborhood. This 3 bedroom, plus den 4 full bath home boasts a large open floor plan, Angled architecture, and walls of glass. The kitchen offers newer custom cabinets, high end appliances (Viking range) and solid surface counter tops that still retain the homes character of its Mid century modern era. The master suite offers a large sitting area, 2 walk in closets, double sinks, walk in ceramic shower and an access to its own private deck. The exterior and interior have been recently painted and every floor surface has been updated. If that is not enough, it has 3 fireplaces, paver block patio, park like lot, many built ins, newly completed wine room and den, outdoor sauna and a good portion of the roof is new. If you like a classic Red Warner design this is the home for you!

So, this home swings back and forth between time capsule and updated, but I don’t think the updates look too bad.  And there are still lots of the original built-ins and roughly half the original bathrooms. And the pink bathroom is still intact, which is the most important one. And I really, really love the main living area and the excellent curb appeal. What do you think?

All the light! That “V” support in the front! (I’m sure it has an official name) Oh, this is wonderful!
And if you’re gonna’ be all correct and remove that gorgeous stove, I’ll take it.

Ruth, please say that you bought this house, it seems so perfect for you. But, I vaguely remember that you bought a new home?

Sadly, I did not buy this house. We moved to an area where we ended up having to buy a new build!

Fabulous house. I’ve no need for a sauna out here in California, but it might come in handy during those Michigan winters.

And then there is that floor in the pink bathroom. What is that? It’s stunning in that room.
