Won’t You Be The Brady Bunch? A Special Won’t You Be My Neighbor!

By RetroRuth

Oh, Marcia! If you have ever dreamed of being part of the Brady Bunch, now is your chance. Their house is for sale!

I haven’t been this excited since the Ponderosa House from Bonanza was for sale a few years ago!

In any case, now is your chance to own the house that was used for the outside shots of the Brady’s beloved domicile. And while the inside the home shots were done in a studio, you can still roll around outside in famous landscaping.

This house is located at 11222 Dilling Street, North Hollywood, Cali-forn-I-A. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and is approximately 2,400 square feet. It was built in 1959, and the asking price is $1,885,000. It is listed by Douglas Elliman real estate, and you can see the listing here. From the listing:

The beloved television home of The Brady Bunch has come to market after almost 50 years. This iconic residence is reportedly the 2nd most photographed home in the United States after the White House. Featuring perfectly preserved 1970’s d~cor, it boasts one of the largest lots in the neighborhood– over 12,500sqft. Enormous, lush backyard gardens & lawn, completely private & serene. Located on a quiet residential block, property also borders the Los Angeles River, which is a unique street-to-river orientation. Living space quote may not include Garage conversion/expansion of downstairs Family Rm added after original construction. 2 Master Suites, one up/one down plus generous entertaining spaces that flow uniformly from one to the next and to the outdoors. Gated motorcourt plus large separate garage provide parking convenience.Whether inspired by the TV family or the real life surrounding neighborhood, this residence is a perfect postcard of American 70’s style and its special culture.

The sellers are people after my own heart, and are going to give preference to someone who is going to keep the house intact. Good luck to the sellers, and I am hoping the find the right caretakers for this one!

I love this house. You know we all kind of hope to see the actual rooms from the show when we look inside -but still, it doesn’t disappoint. Anyone would be lucky to own it and keep it just like it is. I hope that happens! Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!

Can someone explain the mystery here or is my recollection wrong? My memory of the show is that in front exterior shots during the show there was a large, maybe even boxed window on the vertically-sided cantilevered area to the left of the front door…but this house has no window there… does anyone else recall the same and finds this house dissimilar (aside from the fence and other updates) than the images always shown during the show?

You totally made me look, and you’re right! Did the set designers create a faux box to put on the house? was there originally a box there and someone remodeled and removed the windows because of all the Brady fanatics trying to come by and see the house? We know it wasn’t photoshopped in because…some of us are pre-that.

      Great catch!
