Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Won’t You Buy My House, Part II

By RetroRuth

Well, I know I already posted about my house, but I couldn’t resist doing the official Won’t You Be My Neighbor post on my house. Plus, I really like the pictures.

Our house is located at 906 Holyrood Street in Midland, Michigan. It is three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms and is about 2,800 square feet. This house was built in 1957 and the asking price is $270,000. It is listed by Modern Realty, and you can see the listing on Zillow here. From the listing:

MID CENTURY MODERN ON HOLYROOD! Custom built in 1956 for the Dean Family, this one of a kind ranch, designed by architect Carl G. Schulwitz, has retained its historic and aesthetic value throughout the years. Located in a desirable neighborhood, this home boasts 2803 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a 2 car attached garage, 1311 square feet of finished lower level living, dual furnace and A/C units, and original features that have been lovingly preserved. This playful yet serene home offers floor to ceiling windows providing a connection to nature, 1958 Ford Blue Geneva Cabinets, Armstrong VCT flooring, imported hand cut marble, original tile work, pocket doors throughout, built in storage, and spaces perfect for entertaining. Enjoy an experience that goes beyond merely home ownership, but invites beauty, functional sensibility, and timeless mid century design into everyday life.

Sigh. I’m sitting in our temporary apartment right now as I write this, and I am trying to think of the thing I miss the most about our house. Probably my bedroom. I miss all my built-ins. But a close second is the kitchen. I miss my kitchen so much.

What do you guys think? Have any favorite detail?

I think literally everything is my favorite detail!! 🙂 Your house is seriously one of my all time favorite vintage houses I have ever seen, I completely wish that you did not have to leave. 🙁 I am praying hard that your house at least finds the *right* new owners…………………
