Lovely Lamps

By Julia

When we first moved into our house, our priority was finding some furniture for our living room so we could sit down. After that, we needed lighting as there isn’t any in-ceiling lighting in the living room. The space remained a blank canvas for quite some time, but as we began to dive into our Craigslist searches for other pieces, lighting and smalls began to turn up also. One such find was a pair of lovely lamps. The only downside was their location- a two-and-a-half hour drive away. My husband, the night owl, left work early one evening to make the trip to fetch them. I’ve been smitten ever since.

Here they are! There are so many cool features, I’m not sure where to start.

The shades are the original fiberglass with the lacing along the top and bottom edges. And the starbursts! I love them. Most of the small glass beads in the center of the starbursts are intact.

The brass atomic details in the base of each lamp are also in great shape. They have just a smidge of patina, but not so much that it hinders the shine. And they compliment our magazine racks.

The pair of lovely lamps illuminates the living room very well on their own. They take three-way bulbs so we can choose between mood lighting and full-strength for the whole room.

What about you, dear readers? Do any of you have lovely, atomic, starburst-y lamps to share? Or any suggestions on where to find replacement beads for the shades?
