Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Sturgis, Michigan

By RetroRuth

Thank you to reader Julie who sent me the link to this great house!

This house is located at 304 S Lakeview Avenue in Sturgis, Michigan. It has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and is approximately 6,500 square feet. The asking price is $375,000, and this house was built in 1979. That’s a little later that we normally showcase, but I really enjoyed this house and I thought you all would as well. Julie saw this house mentioned in this article on MLive, and if you are interested in learning more it has some interesting information. It is being sold by Cressy & Everett and you can see the listing here. From the listing:

CREATE YOUR OWN MAGICAL KINGDOM IN THIS EXTRAORDINARY HOUSE! Sitting on almost 2 acres, this unique property offers you an opportunity to have an estate LIKE NO OTHER! With over 5,000 sq ft on each floor, numerous skylights, and creative architecture, THIS HOME WAS DESIGNED FOR LUXURY, ENTERTAINING, & LIVING LIFE TO ITS FULLEST! Featuring four large bedrooms on the main floor, large open kitchen-dining area & connected to your very own game room with huge indoor swimming pool, dressing rooms, sauna & additional kitchen. The garage will handle several cars, all your toys, & even a motor home. Home has been vacant for a few years, and will need some work, updating, and TLC. Once finished, it is ready for LIVING LARGE! This property could also serve as a b&b, boys club, physical rehab, & more

So, what do you think?  I love the interesting light fixtures and wallpaper around every corner. The entryway is really something! I also really like that kitchen. Can you imagine the parties they threw in this place? I hope this house gets an owner who appreciates the all fun touches!

Holy crap, this house is insane, in the very best sense! I hope it gets a very sympathetic new owner. When I read 1979 I wasn’t expecting much, boy was I wrong! I’d have to have a huge crew of people just to maintain it, but what an amazing place.

If I had the money, I would restore this jewel back to exactly as it was in 1980. Someone who went to a party there would walk in and say WOW..it looks just like it did the last time I was here! Surely some one who wants to live in Michigan, would want it in all of it’s original glory. I could never do snow, but would love to restore it and sell it to someone who would appreciate it and keep it maintained.

Wow….a cross between Liberace’s playpen, “Twiggy’s” dressing room, and a French cat house!! My eyes started to water when I got to the purple….whatever you call that room!! Bring in the bulldozers & start over.
