Magnificent Magazine Racks

By Julia

When scouring Craigslist for furniture, I occasionally stumble upon other fantastic finds. Once such find was a trio of magazine racks located right here in my town. The seller had used them to display some art at an outdoor market and no longer needed them. I don’t read that many magazines, but I know a good deal when I see one! I had to rescue them. Each rack has its own personality and slightly different functionality as a result.

The first rack is simple yet sturdy. It has the classic bent wire look with atomic-inspired ball tips. Unfortunately, this one had been spray-painted gold before I picked it up.

Sadly, the second magazine rack had also been spray-painted gold. However, it has not lost its mid-century charm. The swooping wire design and atomic dots draw me in every time.

My favorite of the three racks still has its original finish and a lovely patina. The criss-cross pattern gives it extra support for bulky magazines and books.

It also has the largest capacity of the three, making it perfect for retro and modern-day magazines alike.

Of course, I had to test them out when I brought them home. We had scored some space-themed Life magazines on a different adventure that were happy to call this magazine rack home. But that’s another story for another day.

What about you, dear readers? What do you all use to corral your magazine collections?
