The SAGA Jackpot

By Julia

When we last visited the SAGA saga, I had just found the perfect china hutch for my dining room. Once bitten by the Saga bug, I was hooked and needed to collect them all. I would peruse Craigslist just to see if there was anything at all lurking in the shadows. We were kind of hoping for a dresser- living out of our laundry baskets was beginning to lose its appeal. In my casual search, I stumbled upon an entire bedroom set with two dressers, a nightstand, and a headboard. We were hoping to talk the sellers into splitting the lot so we could get the dresser we had been pining for while still searching for a pair of nightstands. We made arrangements to visit the seller, rented a U-Haul, and set off on the two-hour drive to see the set. They ended up offering us the entire set for the price of one dresser simply because they wanted to change their style. We couldn’t pass that up, and were elated to finally have a proper place to put our clothes!

The tall dresser has a mix of the iconic starbursts and slender drawer pulls of the SAGA line.

The double dresser also came with a mirror that had little starbursts at the top. The dresser itself had some blemishes on the top, but a little Restor-a-finish went a long way to remedy those.

The headboard would fit a double- or queen-sized bed, with the rest of the frame lost to the ages.

And the singular nightstand was ready for service. The two handles give the impression that there will be two drawers in the nightstand, but it is actually just one drawer.

After we made it home with our treasure, we decided that this set would have a happy home in our guest room. Wait…what?! A delightful turn of events lead us to something even better for our own bedroom. Stay tuned to find out what happens in the next installment of the SAGA saga!

Congratulations! We have only the headboard but I’ve never known who the maker is. You hit the jackpot!
