Making Western Pin Up Dreams Come True!

Howdy y’all! Today we I talking all about my favorite little western pin-up outfit that was sewn just for lil’ ol’ me by my lovely friend, Joan of Monica J Veronica Designs. You can find her on Instagram @monicajveronicadesigns for vintage inspired handmade lovelies and a ton of beautiful vintage fashion eye candy! I met her in at a show in Denver and as a fellow seamstress, we quickly had so much to talk about.

A little further down the road, I saw her post some lovely vintage western seersucker fabric, and I knew it had to be mine! Thus the brainstorming of the perfect pin-up frock began unfolding.

This is the photo that had me at hello! Shorts and a bra top were a must, but we didn’t stop there! We looked to images of western pinup art to add a skirt and a vest to the ensemble.

Shortly after, Joan began sending me some teasers. She made a 4 piece set including a vest, skirt, shorts and a reversible top. Oh the options!

Joan does custom work when she can fit it into her busy busy schedule, but if you get the chance, I highly recommend it! She is not only a delight to work with, but her skill is top notch.

Well of course I had to plan the perfect photo shoot for this outfit! I turned to my good friend Joey to make some serious magic happen. And I can say, this is still my favorite photoshoot to date! You can find Joey’s photography on her Instagram @justjoey816.

We grabbed our gear and took it 5 minutes up the 101 Freeway to Mission San Miguel Archangel which was founded in 1797 and is still an active. You’ve probably never heard of San Miguel, but it is one of those tiny old west towns, rich in history but small and humble.

This last one has some amazing colors with all the cacti as my back drop. This one might be my actual favorite photo. That gal, she sure has an eye!
