Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Glendale, California

By RetroRuth

This week we have a home that is sold already, but it is so perfectly mid-century that I just had to share it with you all.

This home is located at 3161 Buckingham Road, Glendale, California. The home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is 1,554 square feet. It was built in 1955. As I mentioned above, the home is currently sold, but you can see a link to the listing here. From the listing:

Built in 1955 this house has been owned by the same family since 1956. Ideally situated on a hilltop in Chevy Chase Canyon with 270′ views the 17,844sqft lot composed of two separate APN’s goes from street to street. The 1,554 sqft house is practically a Midcentury Modern time capsule. Original architecture and finishes all the way down to the door knobs, it’s like stepping back in time. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, privacy and a yard with a view.

Living Room

This last bathroom could use some TLC, but it mostly looks like would just be a coupe coats of paint. You can check out the virtual tour here, which has a lot more angles and less flattering photos. It looks like there are some bad ceiling spots, some flooring needs to be replaced and the painted surfaces need to be repainted. I am not sure of the fate of this house, but my gut says that it isn’t going to be restored. But who knows?  Maybe this little house will get a Christmas miracle. What are your favorite features of this house?

Just sold before Christmas for $1,008,000. And you’re right it probably will be completely remodeled. Living in this part of California we see this all the time. Actually they got that house in that area cheap!

Fresh paint, refinished floors, done. It’s perfect.

The interior woods are beautiful, and it looks as though a little paint in the bathrooms would bring this home back to its original glory.
