By Sara In AZ

Since Christmas is drawing ever closer I’ve been dreaming of those old Christmas Wish Books that every big department store issued back in the day. Oh how I loved pouring through those pages and pages of toys and dreaming of what Santa might bring! I was hunting around eBay for old Christmas wish books and came across this fun listing I thought I’d share!

It would have been about 1963 that my folks got me one of those toy gas stations. Of course, it came as a stack of flat metal sheets on which you had to “insert tab A into slot B”, etc., hopefully without slicing your fingers. It took my dad, several of his shipmates, and a case of beer all night to put the damn thing together. Hope I appreciated it!

This was wonderful to see. Maybe a little bittersweet. Thank you for posing it.

I bet a portable stereo, similar to the one that Mom and Dad bought me from Montgomery Wards in the 60’s, is in that catalog. That was THE best gift I ever received..
