Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Greenville, North Carolina

By MidModMichelle

Hey folks! I hope everyone is feeling fancy today, because this mid-century time capsule home abounds with Hollywood Regency elegance! I must admit that I’m bummed today, firstly because there are 5 (5!!) bathrooms in this home and not a single photo of them in the listing. (Ahhh the suspense is killing me!!) And secondly, I’m bummed because this will be my last post for awhile. I know!!! Y’all, I’m busier than a moth in a mitten and that means no time to search for and post fab mid-century homes right now. SAD FACE!! No worries though, I’ll be poking my head in from time to time and you may even see a post from me down the road. (If I can ever get a break from adulting lol.) And don’t worry, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” isn’t going anywhere and will still feature awesome mid-mod homes on Sundays! Anyhoo, I’ll stop monologuing and get on with the show! 😉

This home is located at 2000 Pinecrest Dr, Greenville, North Carolina on a lovely almost acre lot. It is a 4 bedroom, 5 bath, 5,485 square foot home built in 1961 that is being offered at $425,000. The listing is courtesy of Jeff Boswell at Re/Max Preferred Realty. For more information and additional photos you can check out the listing here. From the listing:

Mid-century Modern Architecture offers grand foyer that opens to formal living and dining areas. Den was decorated with oriental emphasis and opens to hall with long windows overlooking bamboo garden. Game room with wet bar. Oak, walnut and teak woods used throughout the home. All flooring is hardwood. Large kitchen where cabinets and counter-tops are plentiful. Down stairs bedroom with large bath. Two additional half baths down stairs. Master suite with bath, wall of closets and built-in drawers. Wall framing has 1×6 boards nailed to studs – no plywood. Cosmetic updates will make this well crafted home a show-place again. Located on over eight-tenths of an acre.

(I love the curvilinear forms!)

(Isn’t this huge open foyer GORGEOUS?! That staircase is amazing, and I love the gold railing!)

(Those double doors with center knobs and pretty trim!!)

(Oh my, that divider and the wallpaper!!)

(Lovely cabinets and great layout! I even like the wallpaper!)

(Wow, more fabulous dividers!)

(I’m all about the casual feeling rec room, totally my style!)

(I spy a Nutone, beuatiful built-in, and cool bar!)

So let’s hear it, what did y’all think?! Do any of y’all decorate in the Hollywood Regency style? I love that style but it’s a bit posh for me! 🙂

Looks like an elementary school from the outside, but inside is Eden Roc Hotel! I bet a lot of caftans wafted through these spaces in its heyday.

Ha, I can see that! And you’re totally right about the caftans. 🙂

LOL Dan– nailed it! Re: the commercial/industrial exterior appearence, it reminds me of my childhood pediatrician’s building.

I agree with Dan that there’s a bit of an institutional vibe going on here- but I’d happily be institutionalized in this splendor any day!

I know, it’s so huge and less than half a mill. Crazy!!! I am tempted to email the agent about the bathroom photos! And thanks girl, I hope to be around some for sure! 🙂

If the bathrooms are as fabulous as that kitchen, then I would be in hog-heaven. It is perfect, in all respects. So glad to see a house that has not been “renovated” out of its mind.

I know! Considering everything else, the bathrooms have to be original I’d think right?!

It’s so nice to see a home that represents the Hollywood Regency style – one that moves away from the minimalist MCM that we are accustomed to. What a treat! Thank you.

It was definitely fun to step away from kitsch or minimalist modern! Glad you enjoyed! 🙂
