Going Antiquing

By Julia

On a recent trip, I popped into an antique store to look around. I just love checking everything out and looking for mid-century gems. This trip did not disappoint!

Although I don’t have any of my own, I am quite fond of Heywood Wakefield furniture. I spotted this vanity from a mile away. I love how the curve of the handles and the base flows with the streamlined art-deco look. Sadly, there did not appear to be a stool included.

These far-out vases also caught my eye. I could just picture them in a 1960s groove pad with a sunken living room.

This radio is clearly on the fragile side, but still looks cool. I could see this sitting on the Hey Wake vanity while you’re getting ready for the day, listening to a little Patsy Cline or the latest news.

I have a huge soft spot for the Lone Ranger. The show was one of my dad’s favorites, so I spent many hours as a child watching the Lone Ranger, Silver, and Tonto on their adventures. This cookie jar would have been on many a kid’s wish list in its hey-day.

What fun items have you all found on your travels?

Please tell us which store you were visiting and where. I love to find out about all of the shops to visit when in different cities. Thanks!

This was at the Elephant’s Breath in St. Joseph, MI. They had a pretty good selection of furniture and smalls.
