Retro Pattern Review–Simplicity 8672

by Andrea

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a Retro Pattern Review to share, so I am excited to bring this one to you this week!  We’re taking a look at Simplicity 8672 from 1969.

What do you do when you’ve got a super girly, Star Wars loving daughter, who wants a Star Wars dress?  Well, you make her one, of course!  Fortunately, Star Wars fabric is pretty readily available right now, with the new movie coming out.  However, I was super pleased to find some fabric that featured the characters from the original trilogy.  My fabric may not be quite mid-century, but it’s close!

I was exceptionally pleased with how this pattern came out.  Was super easy to sew, the fit was fantastic, and everything went together very smoothly.  Could the Peter Pan collar be any cuter?

Ella is super pleased with her new dress, and can’t wait to wear it to go see the new movie.  The trick may be getting her to take it off to wash between now and then!

I would have been 8 in ’69 and used to wear dresses like that all the time

It’s such a cute style! I see why it was popular.

Andrea, Ella looks adorable. The black leggings make the dress so hip. I was 8 back in 69 too, Jacki. My mom made this dress for me and my sis. Mom used material very similar to the red, white and blue dress on the package. I still remember that dress because the material was super soft.
