The Retro Ranch – A Hip Mid Century Vintage Store in Phoenix Arizona!

By Sara In AZ

Ok wait, did I have everyone fooled for a second into thinking I turned our ‘retro ranch’ into a vintage shop?! Although it sure does feel like I could turn our ranch into an antique store some days…..no, unfortunately my ‘ranch’ is not currently operating as an antique store.

Not yet anyways! Smile

But, I did want to put the word out about a cool vintage shop Mike and I stumbled into a month or so ago…..and yes, it is called Retro Ranch! Seriously, what a COOL name for a vintage shop…..and with a name like that how could we not check the place out?! Between calling our house the ‘retro ranch’ and this shop being named Retro Ranch I figured it would *almost* be downright illegal if we didn’t at least see what the store had to offer…..and I REALLY didn’t feel like getting arrested that day anyways!

I actually had been in this store a super long time ago, back when it was called Retro Redux and I also thought it was cool back then. But, since the shop is located in central Phoenix – and well, we just don’t get downtown that much…..I’m sad to say that it has been a while since we’ve been back to the area. Don’t get me wrong, there are tons of cool shops and things to do down there – I guess we just have a tendency to stay in a closer circle around our house.

Anyway, Mike and I just happened to be back in central Phoenix on a recent weekend so we took some time out to check out the vintage shops again and we just had a blast! However, Retro Ranch really stood out to me….you know I LOVE my kitsch……so I thought it would be fun to do a post on the shop and show you all how cool the place is!

Retro Ranch is located at 4303 North 7th Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona.  The store hours are Tuesday-Sunday from 11am to 6pm.

Even the stuff in the parking lot is cool!

Carlo of Hollywood…EEeeeEEeeEEeeeee!!!

I spy a Moss Lamp back there!

If you need vintage furniture they have got you covered!

Lovely lamps.

Fabulous artwork for your walls!

Retro Ranch even has hip patio furniture!

Did I already mention they have cool furniture?!

Squee! More Moss Lamps! Drats, I forgot to ask how much this set was when I was at the shop that day! Next time, next time……….

I think I’ve died and gone to Moss Lamp Heaven!

I mean really, EVERYTHING is cool here!

Such a fantastic tiki bar!

Retro Ranch has a really fabulous selection of  vintage glassware.

More lovely lamps.

And oh my gosh……these barstools…….I die! The ‘Contemporary’ pattern of Naugahyde in turquoise……EPIC!

The lady at the shop that day told me these were from an actual Pharmacy in the Phoenix area….seriously, how cool?!

Oh man, I’d LOVE to bring home a few of these……first we have to find a spot and save up our pennies!

I sure do hope that y’all enjoyed the tour of Retro Ranch, if you ever find yourself in Phoenix be sure to stop on by…..and tell them Sara from No Pattern said ‘Hi’!

Hmm, I believe we were in there right after we moved back a couple of years ago. Great shop. There are quite a few shops like this in the Melrose historic district and it’s a lot of fun to hit them all. Love the bamboo backed chairs with the yellow and red mid mod fabric!

I drove past there when I was in Phoenix – unfortunately they weren’t open at the time I went by! Too bad, as the store looks awesome – and I am such a sucker for vintage glassware!

Hey! Wouldn’t those bar stools be fantastica with your planned Aqua-colored boomerang countertops?

I think you are right E Emerson – the stools totally would look fabulous with those counters…the only problem is our kitchen eat-in area might be a touch on the small side to have barstools along with the table. We will have to see though, it’s definitely something to consider!

So funI Not sure what a Moss lamp is. Will someone be so kind as to explain. Thanks in advance.

Lyn, they are wacky lamps from the 50s/60s. They were made out of mostly Lucite and usually had ceramic figurines attached. The lamps had pretty outrageous designs most of the time and almost always more outrageous lamp shades! Moss Manufacturing was the company who made the lamps. If you put ‘Moss Lamps’ into Google you can hit the images button and see tons of examples!

I was just there! We were in Scottsdale for a wedding and had to drive down for this great shop. It’s definitely a very fun place. We bought the BEST set of ceramic flamingos. I carried them on the plane home. 🙂
